Guillermo Bermudez, D.C., CCSP




Dr. Guillermo Bermudez founded Active Living Chiropractic with the goal of helping people from all walks of life to live actively by achieving optimum health and peak performance. His enlightened approach involves educating patients and including them as partners in their treatment. Dr. Bermudez understands that active living isn’t just about putting on cleats and a uniform, it's about living life to the fullest.


Dr. Bermudez is committed to remaining at the leading edge of the field of Chiropractic Medicine and regularly attends workshops, seminars and courses that enable him to providethe best possible care for his patients. Dr. Bermudez is the current president of the American Chiropractic Association Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness. Dr. Bermudez received his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States (formerly Western States Chiropractic College), achieved the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician credentialing from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, and is a Graduate of San Diego Spine Research Institute in Brain Traumatology and Whiplash Injuries

 

Dr. Bermudez is a native of Managua, Nicaragua and grew up  Miami, Florida. A former elite soccer athlete, he has sustained many of the same injuries which he is now able to help using his extensive training and personal experience.

 

 

 

 

 

Breanne McSorley, D.C.




Dr. Breanne McSorley joined Dr. Bermudez and the Active Living Chiropractic team in 2010.  She utilizes innovative soft tissue movement-based techniques and is a certified provider of Graston and Active Release Technique (ART).  She is committed to optimizing function and performance through a combination of traditional chiropractic care, rehabilitation exercises, nutritional support, and functional taping techniques. Dr. McSorley believes in the team approach to health, empowering her patients to become active members of their recovery.

 

Dr. McSorley grew up in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with distinction from the University of Victoria.  She later received her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree with honors from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.  As a student, she was actively involved in sports medicine and was part of the sports medicine clinic at various sports events around the state.

 

Dr. McSorley’s compassionate, expert approach to healing facilitates her patients to reach their full health potential.  As a fellow outdoor enthusiast, you can find her running in Forest Park, kayaking down the Clackamas River, or hiking the Gorge.



 

Justin Jelen, D.C.



Dr. Justin Jelen became the third chiropractic physician at Active Living Chiropractic in 2011. He stresses the crucial nature of properly functioning musculoskeletal, immune, and nervous systems to achieve optimal patient health. He is an adamant believer in the importance of a natural, holistic approach to patient care. Dr. Jelen ardently emphasizes patient education and ultimately giving his patients the knowledge, confidence, and tools necessary to take an active role in their recovery to optimum health and future injury prevention.

 

Dr. Jelen’s integrated approach to treatment includes the co-management of patients’ new and existing conditions with other healthcare professionals—including medical doctors, physical therapists, massage therapists, and naturopathic doctors. Personally connecting with the patient as a whole person and catering treatment to suit each individual patient are principal aspects of Dr. Jelen’s vision for peak patient health. Treatments may include chiropractic manipulation, specialized active rehabilitative exercises, electrotherapies, functional taping, and postural and biomechanical analysis. He specializes in nutrition, incorporating comprehensive diet analysis and nutritional counseling as vital elements of his treatment.

 

Dr. Jelen grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois before relocating to New Orleans, Louisiana to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Tulane University. He then moved to Portland where he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States. He is a certified provider of Graston and Active Release Technique (ART), both of which are highly effective, state-of-the-art soft-tissue mobilization techniques. He has experience treating athletes of all levels at various sport events throughout the state, such as the Portland Marathon, Pacific Crest Triathlon, Nike Special Olympics Med-Fest, and even the Columbia Star Ball ballroom dancing. Personally, Dr. Jelen remains as active as possible, by playing basketball, hiking, road cycling, and triathlon training.
